The name of carpets woven in the town of Borchalou in Northwestern Persia, east of the city Hamadan. Borchalou rugs are the best in the region of Hamadan, because shiny wool of very good quality is used to weave them. The weave is delicate and complex. Their fine curvilinear designs with traditional round medallions instead of rhombi make them stand out. The wide borders filled with flowers create a wonderful frame for the central designs of the rugs. The colors vary and are dominated by shades of red, blue, turquoise and orange.
